Kira
Buckland was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. She first decided
to become a performer while in middle school and originally wanted
to be a rock singer, but at age sixteen she started getting into
Japanese animation and video games and realized that there were
people who do the characters’ voices for a living! After hearing
about “online voice acting” from a friend, Kira learned that there
were people online who did hobby projects such as Flash animations
that they needed voices for, and so she started participating
heavily in such online communities and lending her voice to
independent projects. At the time, she became recognized as the
familiar female voice that people would hear in a lot of Flash
animations and games. She also became one of the pioneers of the
early Internet voice acting scene by founding the “Voice Acting
Club”, which got rebooted around Christmas of 2016 and is now an
active online community with over 15,000 members.
But as her goal was to voice act on a professional level, she studied with an acting coach and later participated in (and ended up winning) a contest hosted by BangZoom! Entertainment in 2007, who would later become the first company to give her a shot in the industry. After moving to southern California in 2011, Kira continued her acting training and practice, and ended up landing roles in projects such as anime and video games. She worked a variety of other jobs in the meantime (including as a barista, video game salesperson, and neonatal caregiver at a kitten nursery), and made voiceover her full-time career in the summer of 2018. As someone who is passionate about gaming, Kira is thrilled to be one of the voices heard in video games played around the world.
Some of the franchises Kira is most known for include NieR:Automata, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Demon Slayer, Fire Emblem Heroes, Street Fighter, Soulcalibur, Edens Zero, Ace Attorney, YashaHime, Re:Zero, Dead or Alive, and many others.
When not acting, Kira loves listening to classic rock music (particularly David Bowie), watching makeup tutorials, playing fighting games, going on Pokewalks, cosplay/conventions, and taking care of her five cats. Her favorite anime/manga series is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (she even has a tattoo of the Joestar birthmark) and as an espresso addict, she spends a lot of time at her local coffee shop drinking iced Mexican mochas.
